A decade of trusted home care across Kenya

Lanterna Home Health Care was founded with a single conviction: that every person deserves access to high-quality clinical care in the place they feel safest — their own home. For over ten years, we have been delivering on that promise to families across Kenya.

Today, more than 400 patients and their families have trusted us with their care. From post-surgical recovery to long-term palliative support, from newborn care to school clinic management — our team shows up, every time, with the skill and compassion the moment demands.

Our story

Built from a belief that good care shouldn't stop at the hospital gate

Lanterna was founded by Dorcas Odhiambo, a nurse who had watched too many patients discharged from hospital into homes that were not ready to care for them. Family members left to manage wound dressings they hadn't been trained for. Elderly parents alone between appointments. Patients who needed a nurse, but couldn't get one to come to them.

She built Lanterna to close that gap. Starting in Karen, Nairobi, the practice grew steadily on reputation alone — word of mouth from families who had experienced the difference that consistent, professional in-home care makes.

Over a decade later, that founding belief still governs every service we offer. We are accredited by the Nursing Council of Kenya and the Government of Kenya — not because accreditation is a marketing tool, but because our patients and their families deserve the assurance that their care meets the highest standard.

10+ years of uninterrupted service

We have been operating continuously for over a decade — through the disruptions of the pandemic and beyond. Families who came to us in 2014 still call us today.

400+ patients, each one known by name

We do not operate at scale for its own sake. Every patient has a dedicated care team who knows their history, their preferences, and their family.

Accredited — not just registered

Accreditation by the Nursing Council of Kenya and the Government of Kenya means our clinical standards have been independently verified. That is the standard we maintain.

Nairobi-based, nationwide service
